George’s Marvellous Medics (St George’s Medics Revue)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

It started off so well. Kicking in with a fantastic medical rendition (it is a Medic’s Revue after all) of Gilbert & Sullivan’s ‘Modern Major General’, ‘George’s Marvellous Medics’ looked very promising. Unfortunately, too many cooks spoil the broth, or in this case too many actors spoil the show. Although there is some obvious talent on display here (Dr Wilcox was great), it is somewhat underdeveloped, and overall, the acting is sketchy acting and the writing is poor; too often, a sketch ended with a damp slap as opposed to a proper punch-line, leaving the audience in a clapping limbo. I wanted to like this, I really did, but the quality is just too erratic to recommend this as a medicine for your boredom.
