Geoff Norcott Avoids A Double Dip (Comic Voice Management / CHP Productions)
By Lauren Houghton | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
A show that concerns recovery from the lowest points of life might sound depressing, but Geoff Norcott managed to make it both funny and encouraging. Demonstrating a laid-back and friendly manner that immediately put the audience at ease, he delivered a number of hilarious anecdotes. Dismissing the stages of grief, he rattled off methods of pulling oneself from a funk and how they didn’t work for him, citing the strangeness of meditation, acupuncture and counselling. The show is broadly based around his mother’s death but it moves into a tale about love, family and finding the funny in the unexpected. The show ended on a positive note, explaining how coming out the other side of grief leaves you stronger. Enjoyable and amusing.
