Eleanor Conway’s Midnight Rumble (Oxygen Entertainment / The Comedy Lounge)
By Claire Hoyda | Published on Thursday 23 August 2012
A chat-show at midnight with a late night drunk crowd. The chat consisted of comics doing seven minutes of material and a clutch of clichéd questions. Our host for the evening did nothing to help proceedings apart from make bad decisions regarding audience interaction. Of the three comics, the first two were awkward and unprepared with poorly written material while the third, Alistair Barrie, rescued the show from the clutches of despair and brought the first ten minutes of comedy. The only other decent part was Laura, a drunk council worker, who danced wholeheartedly at the start of each round. The two stars are for those only saving graces; one star for Alistair Barrie, one for Laura.
