Eggball (Douberful / Free Festival )
By Miranda Cannibal | Published on Wednesday 22 August 2012
There’s an alternative scene in the Fringe which many aspire towards and a lot fail to imitate. ‘Eggball’ is a good example of this, consisting of various skits involving absurd characters such as a Scally with schizophrenia, various puppets, a shark and a person with an egg for a head. ‘Eggball’s poorly-sung songs and zany lyrics quickly lose an audience who sit awkwardly on the edge of their seats, wondering if they’ll be coerced into performing the next preposterous task dished out. The performance reminds me of a poorly put-together children’s show with a crass sense of humour. There is little to ‘Eggball’ beyond cheap costumes and badly-made props.
