Do Not Trust The Animals (Paddy Magee / Laughing Horse Free Festival)
By Miranda Cannibal | Published on Wednesday 15 August 2012
Paddy McGee reminds me of a terrified 90s kids’ TV presenter. His show was under-prepared, it under-ran and, while a faint glimmer of humour could be found at times, it was masked by constant self-deprecation. It was loosely based around a risqué reading of Aesop’s Fables, but there were also random bits of stand-up seemingly thrown in for good measure. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if all the organisation that went into this show was Paddy McGee waking up that morning and thinking, “I’m going to be a comedian today”. The support act was again poor and it felt like they might just have been someone just pulled off the street. The show is basically a mess of various one-liners, innuendos and bad jokes.
