Distract And Conquer (Nick Elleray, Joshua Ross / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Hannah Sweetnam | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
‘Distract and Conquer’ certainly lived up to the first half of its name; the formula had potential but unfortunately these comics didn’t quite conquer anything. The first half featured comedians bookended by compères Nick Elleray and Joshua Ross, with the highlight being comic character Mr. Susan, who had the crowd hooting at his crude hilarity. The second half consisted of an audience directed game; unfortunately, after an awkward set, the best suggestion was a ”dying worm” competition, which ended in a shambles. There were funny moments, but it was difficult to tell whether their pessimism was part of a performance or genuine self-pity, and while the set had potential it lacked enthusiasm.
