Craig Hill – Jock’s Trap! (MZA and CHiLL Productions)
By Joseph Trotter | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Craig Hill is a veritable bundle of camp energy, and as he dances around the stage in a leather kilt, it is hard to tell when his goading of the attendees ends and his set begins. Not that it matters; the targets for his playful teasing are his avid audience, a fair mixture of type and background grounding his area-based anecdotes. Hill is unsurprisingly lewd, getting away with his unsubtle innuendo through a harmless ”oooh, matron” approach to his comedy, like Kenneth Williams shooting a load of cock jokes. Still, he is a charming and loveable presence, mocking his punters and returning with ovations. This is the mark of a man, and audience, who know each other very well.
Underbelly, 2-27 Aug (not 13, 20), 7.30pm.
