Comedy Sandwich (McKee & Tuck)
By Charlotte Ryan | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
This hour of free comedy is a mixed bag but succeeds where some others fail in providing something for everyone. Opening comic Dan McKee’s routine isn’t what you’d call crowd-pleasing, focusing as it does on his own very specific world view, so some jokes might leave you cold, but his routine is redeemed by his closing gag. An antidote to this slightly awkward opening, guest comedian Danny Ward provides more traditional humour which, although not hugely original, gets a lot more laughs. Finally comes Laurence Tuck, whose puns and close to the wire gags elicit the kind of laughter inevitably followed by a groan. Not quite Live at the Apollo standard, but a fun (if cramped) way to spend an afternoon.
