Colin Mars – A Life Full of Lemons

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

Colin Mars had the air of a man, who would be extremely funny down the pub with his mates, and unfortunately the humour did not translate to the stage; he did generate some laughter, but when the odd funny moments occurred, the chuckles were scattered sparsely across the room. The set mostly consisted of material based on fairly niche interests, such as Batman and Robin, and Mars’ repertoire sometimes verged on the sexist, as he resorted to fake breasts to entertain. However, Colin was a likeable character, unleashing “the smile” upon his audience and handing out lemon sweets come the end of the set. There were other redeeming moments, with jokes about swinging cats to measure rooms and a literal bag of “stage presents”. Unfortunately he was somewhat lacking in the real thing.
