Chris Brain – A Better Place
By Hannah Sweetnam | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Chris Brain gives a courageous and thought-provoking performance, enlightening the audience about his experiences with depression and anxiety. Driven to panic attack mid-set, Chris leaves a hard-hitting impression on the audience. After 20 years of drink, drugs, gambling and even the odd bit of exercise, all done in the name of “self-medication”, Chris takes a whimsical look at his regimes and finds the funny side of a serious situation. To call this comedy is an interesting choice as, despite being brilliantly entertaining, the set was undeniably bleak in parts and it was a little unclear what the message was. All the same, the highly interesting comedian had a kindly temperament and gave a solid, humorous performance.
