Charmian Hughes – Charmageddon! (Charmian Hughes / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Anna McDonald | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
According to the ancient Maya, the world is due to end in 2012. But, what exactly did they mean by the end of the world and what exactly is going to happen? What if it turns out they’ve been wrong the whole time? These are some of the big questions tackled by Charmian Hughes, who explores everything from how these theories have come about to what kind of party games we’ll play when the world ends, and everything else in between, all with a comic twist of course. Excerpts from her teenage diaries are particularly entertaining, and the home-made props add a certain charm to the show. Despite the subject choice, Hughes’ performance is lively – as was the audience’s reaction.
