Billy Watson – Sex, Drugs And Marriage
By Christopher Rumbles | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Those well-versed in the literary world of Irvine Welsh will instantly feel a sense of deja-vu as fellow Hibs supporter Billy Watson recounts his own tale of debauchery from Leith to Kenya, Turkey, and Siberia. Presenting an insight into how his life is one self-inflicted episode after another, Watson’s show comes across as contrived as its title. Material this graphic and unbelievable requires a comedian who can make the audience truly think the ludicrous stories are genuine. Sadly, Watson’s delivery is egregiously forced. Watson demonstrates that he’s not without wit, but too often this was overshadowed by jokes about a “Fart Code” breaking down language barriers. Overly salacious whilst offering little intelligent insight, Watson’s material is more ‘Viz’ than ‘Acid House’.
