Adam Strauss – Varieties Of Religious Experience (Adam Strauss / PBH Free Fringe)
By Joseph Trotter | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Listings can be problematic. Adam Strauss is listed as a comedian, and describes himself as a comedian in the brochure, but upon arrival makes it clear in no uncertain terms that this is not a comedy show; which is true, for there are few laughs. Instead, what you have is a drug fuelled monologue of despair, love, OCD and self-discovery; or something like that. Whilst it is really just Adam Strauss preaching about himself whilst staring at his navel (and coloured dogs), the show is interesting enough for its running time and gives one something to think about afterwards. However, one gets the feeling that this might have been better served as an inspirational blog-post rather than a full-blown show.
