We are all aware how god-awful coach journeys can be. In this production, Lesley Evans effectively captures the greyness of a coach journey from Edinburgh to London. The atmosphere of service stations, pungent smells and hefty delays is conveyed via a mixture of gaudy characters and an offensively sunny-natured hostess. Evans’ bursting energy generates vast amounts of laughter from the audience but, like a long coach journey, the show had moments of repetitiveness. Her characters become tiring and at times I felt the impatience that a long coach journey might cause…perhaps this was intentional though, to highlight the reality and boredom of a detestable journey home? With a week of the Fringe left, it’s best not to think about it yet.
