Twelfth Night (Bristol Old Vic Theatre School)

By | Published on Friday 24 August 2012

This is exactly how kids should be introduced to Shakespeare. It’s wonderful; telling the story of ‘Twelfth Night’ using a combination of explanatory narration and language from the play itself, it’s easy to understand without losing any Shakespearean credentials. ‘Twelfth Night’ has one of Shakespeare’s more complicated storylines but the way that they simplify it is really impressive; the end product is accessible, fun and perfect, and the jokes are completely hilarious. A few groups of adults in the audience, who may just have been there thinking that it was a straight-up production of the play, were laughing the hardest by the end. Next year, this group has to adapt a tragedy.

Paradise in Augustine’s, 6-25 Aug (not 12, 13, 19, 20), 11.35am.
