ED2012 2/5 Reviews ED2012 Children's Shows Reviews
Neverland (Sunlight Productions)
By Lucinda Al-Zoghbi | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Although slow to start, and clunky in places, the performance gains momentum as we become reacquainted with the timeless classic of Neverland, based on JM Barrie’s Peter Pan. Like Barrie, Sunlight Productions hail from Dumfries – something they’re quite clearly proud of – and together they deliver a modest adaptation of youth and adventure for Fringe audiences. Amongst the cast of ten young actors, there are some quite frankly uninspiring leads, but it’s the minor roles (The Lost Boys and Wendy’s brothers; John and Michael Darling) who steal the show with their wit and camaraderie. Thankfully, there is strength in numbers and the company give a much more confident performance when on stage together.
