ED2012 2/5 Reviews ED2012 Children's Shows Reviews
Children’s Storytelling And Activities (Charlotte Chapel And Christian Focus Publication Authors)
By Holly Close | Published on Tuesday 21 August 2012
Tucked away under Rose Street, the room beneath the Charlotte Chapel feels like an oasis of calm amongst the chaos of the Fringe, beautifully decorated with flowers and swirling lights. The men and women of ‘Word Alive’ enthusiastically present the Old Testament story of Jonah, though their reliance on scripts meant the show never really flowed and often felt under-prepared, despite the clear effort that had gone into the set design. The performance is followed by a lively craft session, which kept the young audience engaged. Pitched squarely at young believers and their families, this event has its heart in the right place, but struggles to match up to the quality of many other children’s Fringe shows.
Charlotte Chapel, 11-25 Aug (not 12, 19), times vary.
