ED2012 Words & Events Reviews
Mark Billingham & Christopher Brookmyre (Edinburgh International Book Festival)
By Pallavi Patel | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
After experiencing many years and many, many authors at the remarkable Edinburgh International Book Festival, I can safely say that this event was a unique book festival experience. These events are usually special for giving an insight into the writing process, the authors’ take on their own work, and a Q&A, which all helps to break down the “fourth wall” between reader and writer. Mark Billingham and Christopher Brookmyre set aside this beautiful protocol in favour of exploring the dark side, with some spectacular results. Funnier than plenty of Fringe comedy, this was an insight into the world of crime writing like none other, as this inimitable double act came together and did their best to reveal the truth about what it’s really like to be an author.
