The Simple Things In Life (Fuel)
By Leonie Sheridan | Published on Sunday 28 August 2011
At this late point in the festival, the idea of leaving Old Town feels like being given a key to the Secret Garden. To spend a couple of hours pondering life’s simple things in the Royal Botanic Garden – bliss. Fuel pride themselves on working in partnership with inspiring artists; in this project they gave them a garden shed and the titular premise: ‘The Simple Things In Life’. Each showing is a journey visiting three of these sheds: mine included a serene haven for contemplative reading, an utterly captivating dance, and a surreal and hilarious Science Fête given by The London Snorkelling Team. Everything here was golden; it warmed me through like an intravenous shot of nostalgia.
Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh – The Simple Things In Life Sheds, 19 – 27 Aug, times vary, £5.00 – £12.50, fpp297.
