The Music Of Les Miserables (Dysart Productions)
By Nadiya Cunnison | Published on Tuesday 9 August 2011
There is something special about this piece. With an under-developed storyline and a number of off-key blunders, this production should not be quite as enticing as it ultimately is. The male cast includes some truly accomplished singers, which alone makes the show worthwhile. The female presence, on the other hand, is weaker, though there are one or two shining stars. This includes the actress who plays Madame Thénardier, whose duet in ‘Master of the House’ is comically astute, very well-executed and deserves much credit. What this promising production lacks in story is made up for by the quality of the vocals. If you like musicals, and Les Mis in particular, then you should try to see it.
