Masterclass – The Edinburgh Sessions (Masterclass)
By Julian Benson | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Based on today’s class, I would recommend going to all of them – they’re free for under-thirties and a fiver for the fogies. Now, this recommendation doesn’t come because of what you’ll learn. In summary, what was taught was: know everyone’s job at a basic level, respect your actors and they’ll respect you, and keep a tight schedule. If you were to come notebook in hand and expect to pick up anything you couldn’t learn through common sense, then you’ve got these sessions wrong. They’re entertainment. Joe Harmston has been working as a director for over twenty years; an excellent speaker and storyteller, he told anecdotes and delighted his audience for over an hour. Expect enjoyment, not education.
Pleasance Courtyard, 15 – 19 Aug, 11.30am (12.45pm), £5.00 (free for under 30s), fpp279.
