Emotions run high during the course of this performance as four actresses reiterate real-life accounts of women who have suffered terribly through acts of domestic violence. The performance is powerful and sincere, articulated bluntly, without modification, straight from the hearts of both the beaten wives and read from the letters they’ve received from their suffering children. As a result, it is not suitable for those of a weak disposition due to graphic descriptions of incestual rape, horrific beatings, enduring torture and a lifelike scene where a chicken is slaughtered. The performance feels long and is subtitled throughout in English, which sadly can be distracting at times, but the strength lies in the rarely faltering performances.
