ED2011 4/5 Reviews ED2011 Theatre Reviews
End Of The Line (Gaiety Performance Theatre Company)
By Veronika Kallus | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
“Fuck society, wealth and recession”. This provocative show which looks at current Irish society, will have one eye crinkling with laughter, while the other tears-up with sadness. Facing the lengthy dole line, the audience is indulged with a kaleidoscopic rollercoaster of stories, scenes and acts. Some serious, some funny, some shocking, they all convey that losing one’s job can happen to anyone, and that finding one is not easy. The cast and the lighting staff do a great job of changing between characters and situations without the need of props, other than clothes and table and chairs. The portrayal of a homeless drunk on the street is as realistic as that of a loony woman is entertaining.
Greenside, 5 – 13 Aug, 8.00pm (8.55pm), £4.00 – £8.00, fpp260.
