1745 – The Last Hopeful Epistle Of Bonnie Prince Charlie (Trinity Theatre Co)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

The myth surrounding Bonnie Prince Charlie still creates a lot of interest, but this approach is different. Attempting to solve mysteries from the past – a dangerous business when the victor writes the history books – Trinity Theatre produce a letter by Prince Charlie to shed new light. The audience can’t be sure if this is the truth or fiction – the monologue often resembles a very realistic lecture. The actor lacks routine, but presents his script with a lot of fresh enthusiasm;  fans of the subject might enjoy it, even though they might want to challenge the actor on a few historical points afterwards. Fine sarcasm, interesting connections and a dram of Drambuie make it a thought provoking 50 minutes.
