Art Festival presents Fringe films
By Chris Cooke | Published on Saturday 13 August 2011
The Fringe and the Edinburgh Art Festival will come together on Monday when a collection of video works by Irish artists get their Scottish premiere at Sweet Grassmarket as part of Edinburgh’s August arts fest.
Presented under the title ‘Spelling The Myth’, the works are by Michelle Deignan, Clodagh Emoe, Martin Healy and Alan Phelan, and examine “popular myths and stereotypes, shared experience and personal legacy, which share a particularly rich history across Scotland and Ireland”. The video programme has been curated by The Agent Ria:registeredinart, an internet channel that showcases video work created by artists.
Although appearing at a Fringe venue, the film programme is part of the Edinburgh Art Festival, which brings together the Scottish capital’s galleries to present a wide-ranging programme of exhibitions and installations each August.
