The Card (The Norfolk Youth Music Theatre)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

A spunky young opportunist hardly put down by societal condemnation – such is the story of Denry Machin in Arnold Bennett’s celebrated novel, ‘The Card’. First, watch with bated breath as he endures disapproval from his mother, competition from his rivals and rejection from his fiancé. Later, join him in celebration as he basks in the light of eventual success. Music from a live orchestra, animated singing and doses of humour all come together seamlessly to present 100 minutes of sheer entertainment. This musical has a relatively slow start but generally gets more enjoyable with time. In all, this is a very good attempt by the Norfolk Youth Music team, and a lively production suitable for all in the family.

Spotlites at The Merchants’ Hall, 8 – 13 Aug, 4.25pm (5.45pm), £6.00 – £8.00, fpp224.
