The Blues Brothers – Live (Louis Hartshorn And Brian Hook)
By Julian Benson | Published on Saturday 27 August 2011
People dancing in the aisles, singing along, with massive smiles all round: that’s what you want from a night of big band music. Forty-five minutes into this set, however, and the audience were chair-bound and uninspired, with a solitary foot, perhaps, tapping to the beat. Given that this was a seated venue, not enough was done to get the audience onto their feet, and it was only in the last throes of the concert that people finally began to step up and dance, when they should have been up by the second song. Consistently upstaged by their support, Jake and Elwood put out nothing to beat the fantastic rendition of ‘Minnie the Moocher’. If the energy was kicked in early, this would be a great show.
