Stairheid Gossip

This isn’t a show I would have normally chosen to attend. However, I enjoyed a wonderful hour of acoustic – mainly a capella – music. They were one member short on the night, but the three refreshingly vibrant women, who evidently shared a tangibly soulful connection, put on an enjoyable performance. Their songs were “celebrations of the lives of everyday folk – in love, work, conflict and peace”, and resonated strongly with the singers own experiences. The programme was well varied with a mixture of Scottish ballads, wartime ditties, 50s hits, American bluegrass and even a bit of The Velvet Underground. There were some wonderful harmonies, touching solos and even a bit of audience participation. These talented ladies delivered an honest and engaging performance.
Acoustic Music Centre at St Brides, 26 – 27 Aug, times vary, £6.00 – £8.00, fpp220.
