Newton Faulkner (Edge Festival)
By Eleanor Pender | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Musician, performer, entertainer, comedian – this man can do it all! The small and intimate venue of Liquid Rooms gave fans a close-up experience of Newton Faulkner’s soaring vocals and his unique guitar skills. With two albums behind him, he clearly loves what he does. The atmosphere felt more like a jam session than a formal gig, with the singer telling stories and making jokes. Memorable songs were a jazzed-up ‘Gone In The Morning’, the well-loved ‘Dream Catch Me’ and his one-man version of ’Bohemian Rhapsody’. Finishing with ‘I’m Not Giving Up Yet’ sums up this gifted songwriter’s attitude. I have a strong feeling he’ll be around for years yet; he has many more tricks up his sleeve.
Liquid Room, 8 – 9 Aug, 7.00pm (10.30pm), £17.50, fpp214.
