In The Pink – Fabulous All-Female A Cappella! (In The Pink)
By Kate Lister | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
“Nice” is a word I was told not to use at school – it’s a bit vague, non-committal; it lacks feeling. I suppose that’s why it seems an apt word to describe In The Pink, an 11-strong all-female, all-singing, all-dancing, all-attractive a cappella group from Oxford. Trilling out contemporary pop hits, they boast some lovely musical arrangements that mean, as a group, they sound – yes – nice; but generally, vocals are unexceptional and the show as a whole lacks energy. Choreographed movement is a fun addition and some entertaining ideas pop up, but – again – it is a little sloppy and uninspiring. You say you’re excited to be here, girls, but I just don’t feel it.
