Free Festival Presents – Casper (Casper)
By Julian Benson | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Looking bored to be there, Casper trot out a generic young man’s rock set. Still at the stage where they look and sound like every other group on the scene, few of their songs stand out from the pack. There is the occasional piece that has something to it; guitar riffs that contain a flighty quality, a sound that pronounces itself clearly against the background noise. A few more tracks like that would make for an interesting set. The band themselves, though, are quite insular: focused on their instruments rather than their audience they seemed to be looking anywhere but out from the stage. This, coupled with the music, made for a fairly dull hour.
Laughing Horse at The Pear Tree, 24 – 25 Aug, 7.00pm (7.45pm), free, fpp205.
