Forum Theatre (Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society and edgeeradica)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

David A Roberts, of edgeeradica (advancing inclusive theatre), ran an introductory workshop to forum theatre. He started by explaining the difference between forum, invisible, and legislative theatre, and then continued onto a series of warm-up exercises. Games like Mexican hypnosis established trust in a room filled with strangers. Then we were split into groups to create an image, from which we eventually produced a short scene. The workshop was both informative and enjoyable, and we discussed an array of issues that wouldn’t have been broached without acting. Some participants were more intrigued than others, but to his credit, David did a fantastic job in bringing together a diverse group of participants and teaching them how to create forum theatre.
