Writer’s Block – Free (Act One / Laughing Horse Free Festival)
By Nina Glencross | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Five young artists are struggling to make ends meet, never mind finding their big break. They decide to put their creative skills together to write an original play and take it to the Fringe Festival. So what is the play about? Read the first two sentences again. Yes, it’s that hackneyed theme again: Act One have written a play about writing a play. It’s a good first attempt from the group and if you take the story to be true, it’s even more amazing that they make it to Edinburgh at all. An eclectic mix of characters add to the drama as pride and personalities clash, making this a cleverly conceived and very well delivered play about a play.
Laughing Horse at Edinburgh City Football Club, 22 – 28 Aug, 3.05pm (4.05pm), free, fpp166.
