The Truth (Explained in Doodles!) (Gareth Morinan / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Iain Martin | Published on Tuesday 16 August 2011
Gareth Morinan delivers an hour-long PowerPoint presentation on the themes of context, judgement and offense. Sound dull? It’s not, because the PowerPoint presentation consists of a series of animated doodles, featuring characters such as Major Beef, Morality Moose and the Snail of Sorrow. It’s wonderfully whimsical stuff and often very funny. His opening piece about how our feelings on pineapples differ depending on context is the best fruit-based material you’re ever likely to see. He could do with having a bit more faith in his jokes, though; he has a habit of explaining some of his more surreal moments, which only serves to lessen their impact. All in all, an extremely enjoyable and original piece of comedy.
