The Top Secret Comedy Club (PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Kirsty MacSween | Published on Tuesday 16 August 2011
Want to get out of the rain and see some up-and-coming comedians without necessarily paying anything? If its first night is anything to go by, ‘The Top Secret Comedy Club’ is a pretty safe bet for an excellent hour’s entertainment. The compere, Pete Dobbing, is brilliant at warming up the audience, and every evening is headlined by a fairly well-known comedian, such as David Mills, this year’s winner of Hackney Empire’s New Act of the Year. This first night was off to a very promising start with the foul-mouthed Ria Lina’s bawdy ukelele songs. With its rotating lineup, you’re obviously taking a chance on the performers, but with Pete Dobbing at the helm you’re most likely in safe hands.
Whistlebinkies, 7 – 26 Aug (not 13, 20), 6.30pm (7.30pm), free, fpp161.
