The Life Doctor (Channel You)
By Nina Glencross | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
While the production has been exceptionally well-considered and organised, the concept of the show itself is a tiny bit lame. However, this actually seems to be the whole point of the story, as revealed in its anti-climatic conclusion. TV life counsellor, The Life Doctor, looks to help three people struggling with the problems their life throws at them but instead ends up making them even more miserable and the show is thus cancelled. The Life Doctor himself is played by eccentric redhead Adam Lawrence and with his Harry Hill-like stage presence, there is never a dull moment; his quirky mannerisms and ability to upstage anyone at any time will either make you laugh or get wholly on your nerves.
Underbelly, 4 – 28 Aug (not 17), 8.10pm (9.10pm), £8.00 – £10.50, fpp109.
