The Lastminute Comedy Club (Lastminute Comedy / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Jennifer Ajderian | Published on Wednesday 10 August 2011
Another collection of comedians gather in a free venue. But this time, compère Paul Edwards takes advantage of the fact that Edinburgh is currently swarming with little-known comedians who all drink in the same pubs. Thus, ‘The Lastminute Comedy Club’ is born, attracting all kinds of acts with the line-up changing daily, from bumbling observational stand-up to kilt-wearing Englishmen with ukuleles. Despite rushing through a few of his jokes, Edwards is a welcoming host who caters wholeheartedly to his audience but still lets a few gags slip through the cracks in his delivery every now and then. The warm applause of an audience fed on (relatively) cheap pints gives ‘The Lastminute Comedy Club’ a friendly atmosphere.
Buffs Club (RAOB), 8 – 27 Aug, 7.30pm (8.30pm), free, fpp106.
