Slap & Giggle: Revealed (Sid Wick & James Bennison / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Jennifer Ajderian | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Sid Wick and James Bennison do not claim to understand the wonders of the universe; these are not the kinds of things they reveal to us. Rather, their free show is filled with partial nudity, attempted murder and, most of all, the blossoming relationship between two men and a lottery ticket. Impressively consistent characters and jokes are woven through the show, meaning this is not a throw-away comedy duo act. Intermittent songs need a little more work but help the story to progress. The pair are wooden at times, and technical aspects of the show meant they can’t roam free around their stage, but the comedy of this friendship which knows no bounds is ever-present, if a little muffled.
Globe, 6 – 16 Aug, 3.30pm (4.30pm), free, fpp152.
