Rrrantin’ Free At The Pear Tree (RRRANTS Collective / Free Festival)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

This month, Edinburgh hasn’t exactly always seen the best weather, so when the sun does decide to grace the capital with its presence, every beer garden is filled to the brim with locals and Festival goers alike, looking to soak up those precious rays. Free events such ‘Rrrantin’ Free At The Pear Tree’ benefit from this greatly, finding themselves with a full audience, despite being a bit, well, awful. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but with their beat poems on necrophilia, the difficulty of hiding an erection under a kilt and an elderly woman receiving a copy of pop-up ‘Karma Sutra’ from her new lover, it seemed like the only genuine applause they received was from each other.

Laughing Horse at The Pear Tree, 21 – 28 Aug, times vary, free, fpp145.
