Piff The Magic Dragon – Last Of The Magic Dragons (John Van Der Put / Cat’s Cradle Comedy)
By Simon Thornton | Published on Saturday 27 August 2011
Not your average magician, Piff does away with the schmaltz and sleekness one usually expects with a magic act which makes for a fantastically refreshing show. Depressed and lonely after being recently dumped, Piff performs in a deadpan and seemingly grumpy manner which endears him to the audience as he whips out an impressive array of tricks, interspersed with a few cheesy but funny jokes. He is aided by his equally miserable sidekick in the form of Amy Sunshine, who he desperately pursues to no avail, an element that does provide another amusing dimension to the act. And finally, there is the cutest canine companion you’ll probably ever witness in the form of levitating Chihuahua Mr Piffles. A truly entertaining and charming act.
