Patsy Blades’ Mid-Life Crisis (Patsy Blades)

By | Published on Tuesday 30 August 2011

If you’re going through menopause, go to this show. If not… there’s free food? Patsy Blades deals with the issues of a mid-life crisis while making tzatziki for the audience – she even serves sausages from Jamie Oliver’s butcher in London.  She’s accompanied on stage by her limping, shaggy dog, and I’m still not sure how much was an act and how much was an actual mid-life crisis. The audience was quite small, but, to her credit, Patsy made us feel like we were sitting in her back garden: however, she did have a tendency to bumble, and the atmosphere that creates only counts for so much. Furthermore, it’s debatable how much this has to offer to anyone not able to relate to the theme; anyone not  in this stage of life may struggle to find much to entertain.

Sweet Grassmarket, 15 – 28 Aug, times vary, £5.00 – £7.50, fpp131.
