Parents Evening (Kieran And Natalie / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Felicity Martin | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
The dread of parents’ evening is in the air as Kieran and Natalie transform into fathers, mothers, teachers, and kids. In between questionable renditions of Busted’s ‘That’s What I Go To School For’, the duo vividly populate a school, switching fluidly between characters. We meet despondent ‘dinner-man’ Kyle, and a teacher so obsessed with one of her pupils that everything she owns is covered in images of his face. Although these are imaginative characters and certainly not stereotypes, the sheer quantity of them is a little exhausting; it would perhaps be more effective to focus on and develop just a few. Not an A* performance, but I’d happily give them a B.
The Voodoo Rooms, 17 – 27 Aug, 4.50pm (5.50pm), free, fpp130.
