Neil Delamere: Divilment (Off The Kerb Productions With The Lisa Richard Agency)
By Eleanor Pender | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Divilment is an Irish world for mischief. With that in mind, Neil Delamere made the predominantly British audience feel very much at home with stories of frozen flats, flying turnips and 3D cornettos, setting the friendly tone of the show from the very beginning. He even waited for a man who popped out for the loo to get back before he continued his story, though while he was away, he managed extract some of the man’s dirty secrets from his friends. Stereotypical Irish laddishness was not overdone, though with an obvious Northern Irish contingent in the crowd, he couldn’t resist slipping a few cultural one-liners in; even so, his humour appealed to the home crowd just as much.
Pleasance Courtyard, 3 – 28 Aug (not 15), 7.40pm (8.40pm), £9.50 – £12.00, fpp125.
