Let Them Eat Cake! (Women On The Make)
By Kirsty MacSween | Published on Friday 26 August 2011
Women On The Make have set out to prove that older women can be hilarious, and this they certainly achieve. Irreverently spanning three turbulent periods in history, they dramatise such things as 17th Century pig-bladder breast implants, French Revolution era ‘Devil Wears Prada’ fashion tyranny, and a drunken relaxation of the professional stoicism at Bletchley Park. These tightly scripted sketches move along at a good pace and have some very funny moments. However, they are very traditional (dare I say old-fashioned) and heavy on the innuendo, which is not a bad thing, as the slightly older audience clearly loved every moment. If you want some bawdy fun, ‘Let Them Eat Cake!’ is the perfect appetiser.
