Laugh Or Your Money Back (Bonnie Davies)
By Samuel Johnston | Published on Tuesday 30 August 2011
Bonnie is a likeable girl from Australia – it’s kind of her thing. She wants the audience to be her friends, so she gives them sweets and biscuits on entry, engages in a bit of light repartee during the show, and smiles an awful lot. Her material is relatively polished (a good sketch equating being old with being drunk was well-received) but her delivery is altogether too one-paced, never pausing for dramatic effect or even breath. This ends up with the dénouement of her jokes being swallowed far too often, leaving the audience placid with unfulfilled anticipation. If her jokes only had a little more edge, then there would be much more traction for her set to run on.
