Jo And Brydie Play Doctor (Jo And Brydie)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

Jo and Brydie have lost their mojo; in fact, they’ve lost the plot. The Australian comic duo had occasional chemistry, but unfortunately their show was too scripted and lacking in spontaneity to be enjoyable; a shame, since I desperately wanted them to do well. But as they worked through each other’s problems – from bad taste in men, to an inability to do accents – and attempted to cure them, their lifeless performance was simply uninspiring. Although Brydie has potential as a sketch comedian, and when they broke from the routine and ad-libbed there were some genuinely funny moments, these were far and few between. The script was unimaginative and poorly projected, and on this occasion, laughter certainly wasn’t the best medicine.
