Frank Sanazi’s Comedy Blitzkrieg – Free (Frank Sanazi’s Comedy Blitzkrieg / Free Festival)
By Emily Carson | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
What do you get if you mix Rat Pack songs and Frank Sinatra with the Third Reich’s favourite dictator? Exactly what you would expect. While this show does have an impressive singer behind it, the material itself is pretty basic: a series of Fatherland puns and musical numbers with, at points, some quite inventive lyric changes. Sanazi even brings out another “Iraq Pack” member in the form of “Osama Bing Crosby” to duet with him in a Jew-inspired version of ‘What A Swell Party This Is’. While this show certainly is the marriage of two normally incompatible features, it is somewhat one-dimensional. Furthermore the material, which often toes the line of offensive, is not for the sensitive spectator.
Laughing Horse at The Hive, 4 – 21 Aug, 6.15pm (7.00pm), free, fpp80.
