Des Clarke – Des Comedy Jam
By Daisy Badger | Published on Friday 26 August 2011
Des Clarke is über-Scottish. He has a colloquial manner, and he remains unflinching towards the “sweary words” (as is the Scottish wont), and it turns out that the idea of mums cursing is actually still pretty funny. He talks about the Scots to a crowd of mainly Scots, offering an accurate glimpse into a national humour that he is evidently and deservedly very proud of. As a southerner, I loved it – the moment he won me over was when discussing the fate of Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games in 2014. Although Clarke speaks quite fast, his lucidity and diction is perfect, and it just means you will get all the more funny crammed into the hour, as well as a finale that will positively blow you away.
