David Reed: Shamblehouse (Draw HQ)
By Kathryn Moore | Published on Friday 26 August 2011
David Reed brings an absolute cabaret of lonely, unfortunate but lovable characters to life, each with their own twists and odd tales to tell. With its focus on failure and a ‘why does it always rain on me’ attitude, there’s also room for moving moments, as the characters can’t seem to find their purpose, even in death. With its audience interaction, a detailed and unique script, and on-the-spot gags, this quick-witted comedian holds his audience attentively in his mitts throughout. In parts, some accents do become similar, yet the detail marks each personality out brilliantly. The silliness, meanwhile, is outrageously entertaining: you could undoubtedly watch ‘Shamblehouse’ for another hour.
