Cowboys And Indians: Black Man In The Whitehouse (Kingswell Productions / Laughing Horse Free Festival)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

George WWIII, the racist, bible-bashing and gun-toting Texas Border Patrol officer, has come to “Edinberg” to instruct us on border control. The perceived ‘ignorant Americans’ are the butt of almost every joke; clichés like Americans being amazed at how everything in Britain is so old, make for unimaginative comedy. Furthermore, much of the material is deeply offensive which – although obviously the point of the Texan persona – had many people cringing unhappily and uncomfortably in their seats. It doesn’t help that he keeps slipping in and out of character so some of the worst jokes aren’t even in context. There are some good one-liners though, but it’s probably not for those of a very sensitive or politically correct disposition.
